Safaris in East Africa
One of the cornerstones of Hoopoe's mountain and trekking operations is our guide training programs. Our methodology is simple - train as much as possible. Normally this means that we run 2 training programs a year in the low seasons (November and April) but we also run refresher courses at key times for specific events - the Serengeti Migration, the Tarangire Migration are good examples for guides that lead cross discipline trips (for instance Kilimanjaro + walking safari).

First aid is absolutely key and core and all guides are expected to reach level 4 to be a head guide and moreover train porters in the low season as they are all qualified first aid instructors:
*Note all guides have to undertake the level 4 modules
*required module for all guides, proprietry client monitoring methodology system in use since 2001
Considered by many to be the most beautiful and scenic route, you pass through at Karanga valley gives you a much better chance of success than a 6 day Machame climb
This 8-night on the mountain program is ideal for those wanting more privacy, a slower climb, and all the best scenery of the mountain. The traversing of the Shira plateau is especially spectacular, and this route also ensures the best of the Machame route is also seen. The ultimate ascent route, the ultimate views, less people, full backup and highly trained guides - the best Kilimanjaro climb.
KILIMANJARO PLAINS TO PEAK
The best Kilimanjaro trip for those that want to really enjoy everything that this beuatiful mountain has to offer. Spending two nights in a private wilderness in West Kilimanjaro not only do you get to trek with Maasai warriors and see some of the biggest elephants in Africa, but the Kilimanjaro hike is the Lemosho hike (see above). Hence, the best trip you can do on Kilimanjaro.
MT. KENYA SIRIMON
This 8-day, 7-night trek around and up Africa's second highest mountain nearly completely circumnavigates the summit and includes an ascent of Pt. Lenana. As beautiful an alpine walk as it is a challenging ascent of Lenana
