full itinerary | prices and departures

Why Wildest Africa?

See the largest and wildest game reserve and national park in the world and a wild untouched coastline.

Description
Beach and bush! Both the Selous and Ruaha are two of the largest and some of the wildest parks in Africa. The camps tend to be smaller and more exclusive than other destination in East Africa and they offer safaris by vehicles, boat, and also adventure on foot. The safari ends on the beach in an area of outstanding natural beauty and also where there are no other lodges for miles around.

Highlights

  • Selous Game Reserve
  • Ruaha National Park
  • The Swahili Coast

Full Itinerary

DAY 1
ARRIVAL DAR ES SALAAM / SELOUS

You will be met from your flight into Dar es Salaam airport by a member of Foxes Safari Camp staff holding a name board. They will escort you to the domestic terminal. The flight to Selous takes off from Dar at 10:30 arriving 40 minutes later

DAY 1 - 4
RUFIJI RIVER CAMP

Full board accommodation, reserve fees and concession fees, 2 game activities per day (boating, vehicle or walking) airstrip transfers, tea, coffee and laundry. A game drive through the park gets you back to the airstrip for the flight to Ruaha National Park. A game drive through the park gets you back to the airstrip for the flight to Ruaha National Park

DAY 4 - 7
RUAHA RIVER LODGE

Accommodation at Ruaha River Lodge, full board, park fees, 2 game drives per day (or equivalent full day) airstrip transfers, tea, coffee and laundry. Triple or family rooms are available. The flight from Ruaha departs after lunch. On arrival you will be transferred to the International terminal. Tanzania is blessed with miles of coastline bathed by the Indian Ocean. Lazy Lagoon Island is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun, sea and sand. Being a private island 2km out to sea, you are not affected by the long low tide periods that affect the mainland coastline. The island is 9km long and the lodge is the only habitation on the island. We do share the island with some wildlife, notably suni antelope, bushbigs, monkeys and bush babies. At low tide there is a wonderful display of brightly coloured star fish on the exposed rocks in vivid red, orange and green. Being offshore the low tide does not leave you miles from the water's edge, and sea swimming is possible at all tides from the inward side of the island. There is also a small swimming pool. For the more active you can explore the island on foot (we are still waiting for someone to get to the other end and back!) or try your hand at kayaking around the Mangroves. Bagamoyo town on the mainland opposite the island was the original port for Tanzania and saw all the Explorers off on their expeditions and the Slave caravans return from the interior. The history of the town is similar to Stone Town on Zanzibar, with slave market, old Arabic style buildings and the oldest Catholic mission on mainland Tanzania. Guided tours are available around the town and surroundings.Selous Safari Camp.

DAY 7 - 10
LAZY LAGOON ISLAND

full board accommodation, boat transfers, use of equipment. Excursions to Bagamoyo and environs can be booked at the Lodge.

DAY 10
DAR ES SALAAM
