Why Mt Meru Set Departure?

Hoopoe set departure climbs are the ideal Mt Meru hikes. Over 4 days we allow plenty of time for a safe and succesful ascent. You can use this as a PRE ACCLIMATISATION hike for Kilimanjaro or Mt Kenya. Read about our guide training courses here. Hoopoe provides Oxygen + portable altitude chamber for safety purposes + all guides go through 2 x 1 month long compulsory training sessions per year.

Description
One of East Africa's most beautiful volcanoes. Only climbed in 1904, Meru remains one of the least ascended high altitude peaks in East Africa. It can be appended to the start of any safari itinerary or even as a pre acclimatisation hike for Kilimanjaro or Mt Kenya. Well worth it for those climbing this as a stand alone peak to see stunning geology, afromontane forest and wildlife on foot.

Highlights

  • Mt Meru
  • Afromontane forest
  • Well formed ash cone
  • Views of Kilimanjaro and Maasai Steppe

Take a pre or post climb safari.
